May dinner: red and purple

Our special dinner for May in red and purple had to undergo a last-minute change of plan. I had intended to start with a salad and then have a hot main course, but then we got a sudden heat wave at the end of May. After a few days of temperatures in the 90sF we didn’t want to eat anything hot. So instead, I changed the main course into a big salad so we could eat cold.

We had a salad of red lettuce, tomatoes, red pepper, red onion, and shredded red cabbage with grilled salmon on top. We drank a somewhat disappointing sweet red wine with it.
